SPECIFICATION

Panels made in metal case with bench support and the electrical scheme on the front panel. The board shall consist of a simple, but complete AM transmitter, operating in the mid wave range and, therefore, able to operate together with the am super heterodyne receiver described below to carry out a complete telecommunications system. The board shall allow the verify the operation aspects of AM transmission, analysing and recording the performances of circuits such as the carrier generator, the frequency harmonic multiplier, the modulator, the RF and antenna stage. This trainer must consist of a simplified but comprehensive AM transmitter operating in the Mid-Wave range, and it will be possible to use it along with the AM receiver, thereby forming a complete communication system. This trainer shall allow the student to become familiar with the application of AM in transmission, as well as to analyze and measure the performance of circuits such as the carrier generator, the frequency harmonic multiplexer, the modulator, the RF and antenna stages. The trainer shall include a faults simulator system to be programmed by the Instructor through microswitches, located in the rear and protected by a lockable door. This will permit to practice troubleshooting techniques, besides alignment procedures for every stage of the transmitter. The trainer shall be equipped with ancillary devices such as: dummy load, output RF power measuring circuit, sinusoidal test tone generator.

Technical Features:

  • The board shall include auxiliary devices such as: dummy load, measurement circuit for the output RF power and testing sinusoidal tone generator.
  • A micro switch system, covered by a door placed on the back of the board, allows introducing faults in the transmitter circuit.
  • Transmitter frequency: 1410 kHz approx.
  • Testing tone generator: 600 Hz approx.
  • Adjustable amplitude: from 0 to 8 Vpp
  • Output impedance: 300 rated N
  • Power Supply: ± 15 Vdc, 300 mA.

With this trainer it must be possible to perform the following experiments:

  • Study of the first carrier generator
  • Study of the linear modulator
  • Study of the second carrier generator
  • Study of the harmonic frequency multiplier
  • Study of the mixer-converter stage
  • Study of the RF amplifier
  • Output signal metering circuit
  • Transmitter alignment
  • Study of indirect modulation transmitter.
