SPECIFICATION

  • General Requirement: The Bitumen Extractor is used for quantative determination of bitumen in hot-mixed paving mixtures and pavement samples for specification acceptance, service evaluation, control and research.
  • Compliance: The apparatus shall comply AASHTO-164 Standard.
  • Extraction apparatus: Bitumen Extractor (220 volt, A.C.) , having a removable bowl of AASHTO specified dimension and capable of holding 3000 gm. material.The bowl may be revolved at controlled variable speed up to 3600 r.p.m. The speed may be controlled manually or with a preset speed control.
  • The apparatus shall be provided with a container for catching the solvent thrown from the bowl and a drain for removing the solvent.
  • The apparatus shall be provided with explosion-proof features.
  • Filter Rings, felt or paper: Low-Ash Paper Filter Rings may be used in place of the felt filter ring.
  • Such filter rings shall consist of low-ash filter paper stock, 1.27 ± 0.13 mm (0.05 ± 0.005 in.) thick.
  • The nominal base weight of the paper shall be 150 ± 14 kg (330 ± 30 lb) for a ream [500 sheets, 635 × 965 mm (25 × 38 in.)].
  • The ash content of the paper shall not exceed 0.2 percent (approximately 0.034 g per ring).
  • Reagent: Trichloroethylene (reagent-grade or technical-grade) specified by AASHTO.
  • The chemicals must be supplied in original and sealed container of the manufacturer and supplied by the same manufacturer of the extractor.
  • With each extractor 20 liter chemicals shall be supplied.Accessories: All the accessories related to the operation of the above mentioned Tester.
  • Manual: Original 'Operation & Maintenance Manual' to be given in English version along with the machine.
