- The compression set apparatus is designed to test the constant strain compression of rubber and rubber-like materials at room temperature and elevated temperatures. During walking, a shoe sole (or top piece) is subjected to compression forces and deformation.
- Used to test the spreading behavior of soles or top pieces. compression set apparatus used to assess solid, cellular, and micro-cellular rubbers under constant stress conditions.
- Equipment sample discs are cut from the sole or top piece material and held between spring-loaded platens for a given time under constant pressure.
- Several spacers, and tiers of specimens were tested at the same time. thickness of the discs measured before and after the test and the decrease in thickness provides an indication of the compression set of the material.
