1. Prepare the Durometer
Ensure the durometer is clean and properly calibrated as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
Check the device is functioning correctly before use.
2. Select the Test Location
Choose a flat, clean area on the material.
Ensure the surface is free from dust, debris, or irregularities.
3. Apply Pressure
Press the durometer’s indenter firmly against the material.
Maintain consistent pressure and hold the device perpendicular to the surface.
4. Take the Reading
Wait a few seconds for the needle to stabilize.
Read the hardness value directly from the durometer scale.
Note: A higher reading indicates a harder material.
5. Repeat Measurements
Take readings at multiple locations for accuracy.
Average the values or compare them for consistency.
