- Three metal rods made of copper, aluminum and iron, with similar geometric characteristics,
- length ≥ 30cm and diameter ≥ 0.5cm on a metal base with a negligible coefficient of thermal expansion.
- One end of each rod is fixed to a mechanism with an independent, movable pointer, which has a zeroing screw at ambient temperature.
- The three pointers act on a common scale.
- The metal base must have a heating element, which can heat all three rods uniformly along their entire length.
