SPECIFICATION

55744 Experimental Set Up has been designed specifically to find the value of Young’s modulus (Y), modulus of rigidity (n) and Poisson’s ratio (s) by Searle’s Apparatus.

Practical experience on this set up carries great educative value for Science and Engineering Students.

OBJECT

  1. Determination of Young’s Modulus, modulus of Rigidity and Poisson’s ratio by Searle’s apparatus.

FEATURES

The Set up consists of :

  1. Searle’s Apparatus. It consists of three 30 cm long wires under test, connected with two brass rods about 30 cm long at their mid points by two screws. The rods are suspended from hooks fitted on a rigid metallic support.
  2. Screw Gauge.
  3. Vernier Calliper.
  4. Digital Stop Clock with START/STOP operation by means of toggle switch & RESET by a push button switch. It has a range of 999.9 seconds with resolution of 0.1 seconds and accuracy of ± 0.01% (Quartz controlled). Display is thorough 4 no’s of 12.5mm bright Seven Segment Displays and working voltage of the unit is 230V± 10% 50Hz.
  5. Weight : 5.6 Kg. (Approx.
  6. Strongly supported by detailed Operating Instructions, giving details of Object, Theory, Design procedures, Report Suggestions and Book References.

OTHER APPARATUS REQUIRED:

  1. Physical balance with weight box
  2. Retort stand.
  3. Thread, metre scale, candle & match box
