Assembly of apparatus for determination of carbonate in lime as per is 1514:1990
The apparatus shall consist of the following components assembled as given

  • Funnel (A );
  • Two-way cock ( B );
  • 50-ml flask ( C ); 
  • Leveling bottle ( D ); 
  • Condenser tube ( E );
  • Water jacket ( F );
  • Compensator tube ( G );
  • Gas burette ( H );
  • Manometer ( J );
  • Sodium hydroxide bubbler ( K);
  • Valve ( L ); and
  • Three-way cocks ( M, N, P, Q ).

The compensator tube is used to correct automatically for the changes in barometric pressure and temperature by balancing the pressure in the burette against that in the compensator tube. The manometer is used when balancing the pressure in the burette against that in the compensator tube.
