SPECIFICATION

Purpose: For educational purpose to train technologists and engineers on how to operate GC to make analysis of volatile samples with GC.

System Design: System must be capable of effluent splitting, back flushing & column switching/changing without breaking of vacuum along with software controlled splitter to acquire chromatograms for at least three detectors simultaneously with more than two inlets.

Retention time performance

  • Retention time repeatability - < 0.0008 min

Column Oven:

  • Operating temperature range: +3 °C to 450 °C

  • Temperature set point resolution: 0.1 °C

  • Temperature stability 0.1°C or better

  • Maximum heating rate: 125 °C/min

  • Cryogenic option minimum temperature: Up to -50 °C

  • Number of ramps/plateaus: 32/33

  • Oven cool-down: 450 °C to 50 °C in less than 4 minutes.

  • The cooling methodology shall be automatic under processor control

  • For safety purpose oven power must turn-off automatically when the lid/door is opened.

Pneumatics: All Pneumatics Inlets must have an electronic pneumatic control (EPC) of carrier, split and septum

  • Detector should have the facility to minimize the contamination and optimizes

  • Minimum Detection Level: less than 2 pg N/s or better

  • Linear Dynamic range: > 107

  • All gases flow should be adjustable/controlled by software only

One Thermal Conductivity Detector TCD

  • Minimum Detection Level: less than 400 pg tridecane /mL or better

  • Linear Dynamic range: > 105 ± 5%

Nitrogen Phosphorus Detector NPD as optional detector with the following specifications

  • Minimum Detection Level: At least 0.1PG N /Sec or better.

  • Data Acquisition rate: up to 200 HZ or better.

  • Detector should reach 400 °C temperature.

  • All gases flow should be adjustable/ controlled by software with no manual control.

Auto sampler:

  • Liquid auto sampler for injection ports with optional manual operation.

  • It should inject from 0.1ul to 50.0ul with variable speed & varying syringe sizes & must be operate from software.

  • It should have capacity for 50 or more sample vials.

  • Programmable vial sequence.

  • It should have a reproducibility of <0.5% RSD.

Headspace sampler for volatile organic/samples:

  • Temperature range for Transfer line/ Sample up to 2000C or better.

  • Should have a closed sampling design without exposure to atmosphere or ambient temperature.

  • System must be syringe less to avoid exposure to atmosphere/contamination.

  • System must be controllable through software only.

PC / Software / Data processing:
PC with printer should be supplied along with the instrument.

  • Supplied PC compatible for operation & monitoring of GC.

  • High resolution LCD color display

8. Software related

  • Licensed software should be provided, Microsoft Windows operating platform with easy user interface

  • Basic software for device control, data analysis & supports a full range of printers

  • The GC must be able to interface to comprehensive real-time monitoring and diagnostic

software which includes all of the following items:

  • Real time notification via advisories and indicators,

  • ????????????Counters,
  • Chromatographic attributes,

  • Instrument diagnostics, including leak tests,

  • Access to maintenance, run and event logs,

  • This system must be capable of creating and storing methods with stored parameters such as flow rate, pressure, column temperature

  • Report may be printed from all stored results format with results being combined from different runs and different measurement techniques.

  • It should be Possible to call these methods during a sequence of samples in the auto sampler.

  • The system should have the capability of running different methods for different samples.

  • All the methods, parameters should be through window-based software.

  • Software shall include quality control protocols.

Accessories:

  • The GC should be provided with necessary accessories. The presence of these accessories should not limit or restrict our usage as an independent GC.

  • All necessary gases with Gas Cylinders for Nitrogen, Hydrogen, Zero Air, and Helium, double stage Regulators, Gas Purification System for all gases, all necessary gas generators, connectors kit, column connectors and maintenance tool kit must be provided along with the system.

  • All necessary types of columns for training purpose.

  • Printer

  • Color LCD monitor
