The Torsional Pendulum Setup is provided with spherical and cylindrical masses, the dimensions of these masses are being determined to calculate the rotational inertia. The masses are suspended from a wire whose Modulus of Rigidity is to be determined. When the mass is slightly twisted and released, it will undergo simple harmonic motion. The period of oscillation is measured with the help of measurement unit, which is microcontroller based and facilitates automatic calculations.
